Number Recognition & Intervention Tools
Printable PDFs • Available on TPT
When numbers look familiar but don’t quite stick, it helps to understand where the difficulty begins.
A learner may confuse similar numerals, overlook a reversed number, or recognize a number in one activity but struggle to find it in another. These resources were created to help you notice those patterns and choose what to practice next.
Explore matching, tracing, Find & Circle, and Doesn’t Match activities, alongside playful Number Splat practice. Teacher tools included in the intervention resources help you record observations, identify gaps, and plan targeted support.
Start By Noticing
These resources were designed with dyscalculia, dyslexia, and different attention and processing needs in mind. Clear number forms, focused layouts, and limited decorative clutter keep the relevant information easy to find.
Choose a few cards and notice which numerals your learner recognizes consistently, confuses, or needs help identifying. Give them time to respond by pointing, clipping, or marking an answer, depending on the activity.
Use the included teacher tools where provided to record patterns and choose a focused skill to revisit. Start with what your learner understands and build from there.
Understand the Gaps. Choose the Next Step.
Repeating the same activity may not tell you why a learner is struggling. Different number-recognition tasks can reveal different patterns: finding a target numeral, distinguishing it from another, or noticing when something doesn’t match.
The Number Recognition Intervention Bundle brings related activities and teacher tools together to support observation and targeted practice.
Use it to explore a starting point, plan individual or small-group support, and revisit skills over time.
Focus on One Skill at a Time
Choose an activity around what you’re noticing. Your learner might need practice finding a numeral, looking closely at its features, or connecting recognition with tracing.
These individual resources let you concentrate on a specific skill and return to it through manageable practice.
